Redirector Browser extension & vibecoded rewrite
An open-source browser extension I used for a long time has been* deprecated* by Chrome.
This extension does a simple job, as its name suggests: redirecting URLs based upon pattern matching. It has many uses in my workflow:
- Google happens to suggest to me Wikipedia articles in simplified Chinese* or in Cantonese. The former needs to be redirected by simply remapping
zh-Hanstozh-Hant, and the latter should be hidden from Google results altogether using another extension, uBlacklist. - Improve UX on some websites. For instance, in the lichess.org menu, the study item would lead us to studies of all members of the site, while I prefer that it default to my studies.
Vibecoded a total rewrite of that extension for personal use, and it is a game changer.
It allow me to avoid using a forked version of an unknown author that I don't necessarily trust in contrast to the original author. See this review of a forked version that replaced the original one on the Chrome Web Store. I'm not enthusiastically interested in investigate whether the accusation are rightfully made ; I just use mine and enjoy the peace of mind.
Probably one year ago, but it took me sometimes to figure out the world without it is terrible. Due to lack of compliance with the new manifest v3. Wikipedia account configuration will be ignored if you land in a page with a different locale.Publié hier · Mis à jour il y a 2 h- Google happens to suggest to me Wikipedia articles in simplified Chinese* or in Cantonese.
